The Holiday..Great Movie and now I found great quote…

I love the movie “The Holiday” starring Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. I have to say Kate Winslet is probably one of my favorite if not my favorite actress of this generation. She is beautiful, talented and always has a great view of her body image..however I digress. Recently, I have been thinking about unrequited love. Not that I am in love with anyone but I definitely have a liking for someone who does not feel the same way. I am not sure why I feel this way but I do. I know that nothing will ever come of us and I am ok with that. I do find myself thinking of him time to time. This now leads me to the movie “The Holiday”. Iris (Kate Winslet) is talking about unrequited love: “And then, there’s another kind of love: the cruelest kind. The one that almost kills its victims. Its called unrequited love. Of that I am an expert. Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other. But what about the rest of us? What about our stories, those of us who fall in love alone? We are the victims of the one sided affair. We are the cursed of the loved ones. We are the unloved ones, the walking wounded. The handicapped without the advantage of a great parking space!” Iris, you could not have said that more beautifully. I think we deserve the parking space! Greatest song ever about unrequited love…Sweet Dreams by Patsy Cline. This song bleeds the pain of unrequited love. Here are some of the lyrics, you be the judge: Sweet dreams of you Every night I go through Why can’t I forget you and start my life anew Instead of having sweet dreams about you You don’t love me, it’s plain I should know I’ll never wear your ring I should hate you the whole night through Instead of having sweet dreams about you Sweet dreams of you Things I know can’t come true Why can’t I forget the past, start loving someone new Instead of having sweet dreams about you Now just picture Patsy’s haunting voice singing that song. I have tears in my eyes right now.
